ABOUT
OUR CLINIC
Welcome to ScoliOkanagan Physiotherapy where we are dedicated to providing scoliosis-specific physiotherapy in Kelowna, British Columbia. We understand that scoliosis is a complex condition that requires a nuanced and individualized approach.
Physiotherapy with us utilizes our training in the Schroth Method. This method focuses on three-dimensional exercises to address the unique curvature and challenges of scoliosis and Scheuermann's kyphosis. Our team is not only dedicated to providing effective treatment, but also to ensuring that each patient feels supported and empowered throughout their wellness journey.
Our clinic operates out of the collaborative and supportive environment of Movement Okanagan. Additionally, we have established a working relationship with The ScoliClinic in Vancouver, allowing us to provide our patients with home exercise equipment and other services when applicable. Whether you or someone you know are dealing with scoliosis, or you're referring a patient, ScoliOkanagan Physiotherapy is your trusted clinic for scoliosis-specific physiotherapy in BC's interior.
CONDITIONS
WE TREAT
Scoliosis
A three dimensional curvature of the spine. Each curve is unique and requires an individualized treatment approach. Scoliosis can be anatomical or functional (ie. sports, occupation, etc). Early detection and intervention is key.
TMJ Dysfunction
Conditions affecting the function of the temporomandibular joint (jaw). Symptoms can include jaw tension, headaches, pain, clicking, and/or difficulty eating some foods. Physiotherapy for TMD focuses on reducing muscular tension and pain, increasing range of motion, and improving muscular control.
Scheuermann's Kyphosis
A condition in which wedged vertebra (rear taller than the front) cause a rounding of the spine.
Postural Imbalance
Sports, occupational demands, and other activities can cause postural asymmetries. We apply Schroth principles and exercises to improve posture.
Pre- and Post-Surgical Care
Some spines require surgery. Physiotherapy has an important role to play in strengthening prior to surgery and restoring function following the operation.
